Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao and Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu aren’t sitting on the sidelines for long.

Cloud9 recently announced that it is dropping out of Dota 2 after three months of underwhelming results. This marked the fifth time a Dota 2 roster attached to Cloud9 dissolved.

Around the same time, Joel Mori “MoOz” Ozambela departed Business associates, while Leon “Nine” Kirilin decided to take a break from the competitive scene. Nine remains a part of the organization, but is now on the team’s bench.

This opened up two spots on the roster ahead of Dota 2 BEAT Invitational Season 9. Business associates revealed that EternalEnvy will replace MoOz as the team’s mid laner, while Sneyking will play as a support for the tournament.

Business associates was previously sponsored by J.Storm, but the organization ceased operations earlier this year. The team grabbed attention by wearing formal attire to the StarLadder IMBA TV Minor Season 3, but flopped at the event, something that has been the norm for the team over recent months.

Business associates ranked last in the ESL One Los Angeles North American league. Its most recent performance at BTS Pro Series Americas was an eyesore, too. It managed to secure an upper bracket spot, but quickly washed out of the playoffs en route to a fifth-place finish.

Business associates’ new roster gets same ol’ results

The new roster debuted at Dota 2 BEAT Invitational Season 9. Business associates was pitted against Quincy Crew in the upper bracket of the tournament. Quincy Crew stomped Business associates in a 2-0 fashion. EternalEnvy showed that he was comfortable with his new role as he dominated Quinn “CCnC” Callahan in the mid lane. However, Quincy Crew maintained a net worth advantage and sealed the game after 37 minutes.

The second game heavily favored Quincy Crew, led by Yawar “YawaR” Hassan’s outstanding Gyrocopter gameplay.

Business associate might be off to a shaky start but it’s still too early to tell if the lineup is a flop. Fans should take into account that Quincy Crew has performed exceptionally well prior to Dota 2 BEAT Invitational. The team had two consecutive second-place finishes and is the closest rival of Evil Geniuses in the region.
