Fnatic, Evil Geniuses win BTS Pro Series Dota 2 leagues

Fnatic and Evil Geniuses were crowned as BTS Pro Series champions for the southeast Asia region and Americas regions, respectively.

The bloodbath is over. BTS Pro Series has concluded for the two regions, and the event was jam-packed with high-quality Dota 2 action. It logged a total of 152,000 peak viewers on Twitch alone and boasted a $100,000 prize pool divided equally between the two regions.

Fnatic claimed its third title in a row

Fnatic is on a winning streak. The team won its first championship title this year at Dota Summit 12, the last prominent live event held before Dota 2 tournaments shifted en masse to online, regional leagues. This was followed by another dominating run in the ESL One Los Angeles SEA league, where Fnatic claimed the title after an impressive 3-0 win against Team Adroit.

Fnatic kept the momentum going at BTS Pro Series. The team ended the group stage undefeated and succeeded with a Techies draft against Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung’s new team, CR. During the playoffs, Fnatic dominated TNC Predator and took a clean 2-0 win in the upper bracket finals to secure a grand finals berth. TNC survived the lower bracket and looked for revenge.

They wouldn’t get it, as Fnatic was spurred on by a stellar performance from Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon and closed the event with a 3-0 series victory.

Fnatic’s BTS Pro Series win marks its third consecutive first-place finish in a row.

Evil Geniuses earned its third regional league title

Evil Geniuses has earned its third championship title, too. The winning streak started in the WeSave! Charity Play North America league followed by a successful run at ESL One Los Angeles Online.

EG had tougher competitors at BTS Pro Series Americas compared to prior online events. The tournament has gathered top teams from both South and North America, but Evil Geniuses managed to come out on top.

The team was unable to play with its original roster and tapped Eric “Ryoya” Dong and Kanishka Sam “BuLba” Sosale as stand-ins. At first, the team struggled in the group stage and barely made it to the upper bracket. EG pulled off a 2-1 victory over CR4ZY and advanced in the upper bracket finals.

Quincy Crew stomped EG with two quick victories, but EG survived Thunder Predator in the lower bracket finals and faced its rival once again.

This time, EG was prepared to take down Quincy Crew. Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s strong play as Riki set up EG for the victory. The team took another convincing win in the second game with a 25-kill deficit over Quincy Crew. Bulba stood out in the final match with a stellar performance on Bristleback. Quincy Crew tapped out of the tournament after 25 minutes.

Fans were not surprised by Evil Geniuses’ dominance in the Americas region. For a long time, EG has been the top Dota 2 team in America. With the rising number of online leagues, fans expect EG to keep the winning streak going.
