Evil Geniuses vs. Thunder Predator BTS Pro Series betting analysis

The BTS Pro Series: Americas has been the biggest Dota 2 event in the western hemisphere for months now. The league brought together eight of the best teams from North and South America, but now only three remain.

Evil Geniuses is taking on Thunder Predator for a spot in the grand finals, with the winner facing Quincy Crew. The event should be an interesting one, bringing together two teams that don’t often cross paths.

Evil Geniuses vs. Thunder Predator betting analysis

Evil Geniuses struggling to stay on top in BTS Pro Series

Evil Geniuses has been the top team in North America for years now, The organization has been able to bring together some of the best players from around the world and has been able to comfortably sit atop the region thanks to the lack of quality competition.

At full strength, Evil Geniuses would be a prohibitive favorite over the likes of Thunder Predator, but with travel restrictions forcing the team to compete without Roman "RAMZES666" Kushnarev and Abed “Abed” Azel L. Yusop, Evil Geniuses is vulnerable in a way that fans aren’t accustomed to. The current roster is made up of the following players:

  1. Artour “Arteezy” Babaev
  2. Eric "Ryoya" Dong
  3. Sam “BuLba” Sosale
  4. Andreas Franck "Cr1t-" Nielsen
  5. Tal "Fly" Aizik

Evil Geniuses has performed reasonably well during the BTS Pro Series: Americas event, going 4-3 in the group stage and winning its first series in the playoffs. The current vulnerability of Evil Geniuses reared its head in the upper bracket finals, as the team was dealt a harsh 2-0 loss at the hands of Quincy Crew.

That likely wouldn’t have happened at full strength. Though Evil Geniuses remains an good team even with its substitute players, the door is open for some opponents to score an upset over them. Even a team like Thunder Predator.

Thunder Predator has been exceeding expectations

Sometimes, Thunder Predator looks like the best team in South America. Even better than beastcoast. The team consistently crushes it in regional leagues, and has won six such tournaments to this point in the current season.

Other times, Thunder Predator doesn’t look good at all. The team has consistently underwhelmed in international competitions and isn’t bulletproof in locals either, as was seen with the team’s last-place performance in the ESL One Los Angeles South American league.

Thunder Predator’s roster includes the following players:

  1. Alonso "Mnz" León
  2. Leonardo "LeoStyle-" Sifuentes
  3. Frank "Frank" Arias
  4. Farith "Matthew" Puente
  5. Romel "Wu" Quinteros

The BTS Pro Series is arguably showcasing Thunder Predator’s best performance to date, with the team clearing the group stage and eliminating both business associates and CR4ZY in the lower bracket.

Even considering Evil Geniuses’s roster struggles, Thunder Predator taking this win and reaching the finals would be an enormous leap forward for the team.

Evil Geniuses vs. Thunder Predator BTS Pro Series lower bracket finals odds, prediction

The betting odds for Evil Geniuses vs. Thunder Predator are likely to favor Evil Geniuses by a relatively large margin. That’s justified because even though Thunder Predator is looking good in the BTS Pro Series, it still doesn’t have the body of work to get the nod here.

The big question is how big of a favorite Evil Geniuses is. It’s possible that there will be enough room for a modest gain on a successful bet on Evil Geniuses. Bets on a sweeping 2-0 win might be worth considering.
