Ninja continues dominating Mixer, hits 3 million followers
Fortnite superstar Tyler "Ninja" Blevins has reached 3 million followers on Mixer.
"Just surpassed 3 million followers on Mixer over the last 8 months. I cannot thank you enough for the support you all continue to give me with this leap of faith huge switch in my streaming career. Love you guys," Ninja tweeted.
When Ninja first moved to Mixer, he quickly became the most-viewed and most-followed content creator on the streaming platform. Even so, Ninja saw a significant drop in viewership when he moved, going from 36,146 viewerships per stream to a little over 12,000.
This wasn't a big concern to Ninja, who had left Twtich due to the platform's restrictive contracts and rules. Unlike his time with Twitch, Ninja doesn't rely on subscriptions for income on Mixer. Instead, he signed a hefty contract to stream exclusively on the platform. He also is free to sign deals and sponsorships, which is another big source of income for Ninja.
Streamers see increase in viewership due to coronavirus lockdown
Ninja is one of many streamers to see big numbers thanks to the ongoing lockdown. With everyone staying indoors, streaming has become a go-to source of entertainment for many around the world.
Mixer saw an increase of 1.2% in hours streamed this quarter compared to the last. The number of unique channels on the Mixer increased by 4.1% compared to the previous quarter. But unlike Twitch and Facebook Gaming, Mixer didn't see an increase in overall hours watched in Q1 of 2020, suffering a 7.3% decrease.
Of course, this doesn't seem to be affecting Ninja, whose numbers have been consistently rising this year. His followers have continuously risen, as well as his total daily video views, according to Social Blade. From April 9 to April 10, Ninja gained 2,668 followers and saw his viewership go up by 164,504 video views.
