The best streamers to watch while you're stuck in quarantine
It's looking like many people will be spending almost the entirety of April stuck inside due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A lot of us are already bored with our current collection of games, and some have even time traveled to the end of Animal Crossing. We've binged all of the Netflix shows that were on our watch list, and even watching some guy play with tigers and feed them expired hot dogs. So now what?
Many people have been turning to streamers for entertainment during the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, Twitch, Facebook Gaming, and YouTube Gaming have all broken records for both hours watched and hours streamed. There's more content available on Twitch and Mixer than ever before.
Here are a few streamers to start with once you get bored of scrolling through Carole memes on Facebook.
At just 19 years old, Ali "Myth" Kabbani became the first Fortnite streamer to be signed by any esports organization when TSM added him to their content creator team. From the start, it was his innovative building strategies and competitive play style that won him loyal followers. He's kept a growing following throughout the years because of his likable personality and willingness to try new games.
While many Fortnite players are all about the PC, Nick "Nickmercs" Kolcheff has always been a champion for competitive console gamers. He's proven time and time again that he can compete with, and even beat, some PC pros using his PlayStation 4 controller. He has even gone toe to toe with Tyler "Ninja" Blevins on the topic, calling the famous Mixer streamer out as a hater. While his compilations are fun to watch, it's also a great way to learn how to improve your mechanics if you also play on console.
Team Liquid's most popular League of Legends streamer, Ashkan "TF Blade" Homayouni is probably one of the best solo queue LoL players in the world. But what makes him even more fun to watch is that he's always trying to reach some lofty goal.
Right now, TF Blade is on a journey to become the number one ranked League of Legends solo queue player on the planet. He's already accomplished it in a number of servers around the world, but that hasn't come without drama and trolling. That just makes it all the more fun for viewers who don't mind a little controversy.
If you want to watch people be insanely good at a classic game from your childhood, you'll want to watch Zfg. He's a speedrunner who constantly breaks world records. While it's entertaining enough to watch him speed through The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, he's also fun to watch thanks to the insight his gives into the runs.
KindaFunnyGames was founded by two former IGN personalities. The channel features a variety of shows, including Kinda Funny Games daily, a live talk show where Greg Miller talks with various personalities from around the gaming industry.
They also have shows that feature famous actors and developers, a show specifically for PlayStation fans, and shows where they just livestream some games. The constant variety of programs makes KindaFunnyGames a good source of entertainment on Twitch.
When Kyle "Mongraal" Jackson became a pro Fortnite player for Team Secret, he was just 13 years old. He's one of the youngest esports professionals in the world and is also one of the most talented Fortnite players out there. From his insane accuracy to his building knowledge, Mongraal's streams are equal parts entertaining and impressive. He also shares a lot of tips and tricks, including his specs and setup information on Twitter.
Former Cloud9 AD Carry Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi is obviously a talented player. That's what most people look for in a League of Legends stream. But his streams always have a bit more entertainment value than some of his fellow LoL pros, with a culture heavy on memes and, of course, his famous cosplays. Many of his sexy gender-bending cosplays have premiered on Twitch, where he also lets his followers have a say in his next costumes.
Kathleen "Loserfruit" Belsten is a variety streamer on Twitch who will try basically any game once. She is currently playing Fortnite, Overwatch, and Animal Crossing, but is also often found just chatting with her viewers. Loserfruit is also known for editing content in a creative way and for her great sense of humor.
Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev is often considered one of the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players in the world. That achievement has also made the Natus Vincere star one of the most watched CSGO streamers, and he's constantly topping the charts.
That's mostly due to seeing his insane skills, but some people are definitely tuning in for the drama. s1mple has been continuously banned from Twitch for using innapropriate langauge.
No list of streamers would be complete without Soleil "EwOk" Wheeler. She was the first female member of FaZe Clan, joining the organization as a Fortnite streamer at just 13-years-old.
She is also deaf. She started off small, but she quickly gained followers due not just to her inspirational story, but also her talent. She's consistently entertaining to watch on her Mixer streams and sometimes brings in well-known guests to stream with her.
This DPS player is the most viewed Overwatch streamer on Twitch. Brian "Kephrii" St. Pierre, who is a US Army veteran, has continuously gained subscribers due to his insane accuracy on multiple hitscan heroes. It's no wonder he's often referred to as the "aim god." Watching his streams are like watching the most exciting parts of the Overwatch League highlights and remind us why Overwatch isn't dead.
PayMoneyWubby is usually found in the Just Chatting area of Twitch, ranting about various online trends and people famous on the internet. He is known for calling out YouTube channels and Twitch users that he doesn't agree with.
His harsh commentary has led him to becoming the most gifted channel on Twitch. He recently was banned from Twitch for livestreaming in a resturaunt. Upon his return, PayMoneyWubby had a lot to say about Twitch, which he expressed in a funny skit that mocked their inconsistent banning policy.
