Team Aster players quarantined after contact with COVID-19 case

Following an extended stay in the Ukraine, Team Aster is being forced into quarantine by government officials after coming into close contact with a person suffering from COVID-19.

China has stringent precautionary measures on travelers from countries affected by the outbreak.

In one of its connecting flights to China, Team Aster shared the plane with a passenger who tested positive for coronavirus. The team traveled back to its home country after a prolonged stay in the Ukraine, where it was left in a holding pattern after winning the StarLadder ImbaTV Minor Season 3. The victory earned the team a spot in the ESL One Los Angeles Major, but the tournament was postponed indefinitely due to concerns over the disease and recently implemented travel restrictions.

Kee Chyuan "ChYuan" Ng told fans that four of Team Aster’s players will be quarantined in an isolation center. Ye "BoBoKa" Zhibiao, Lin "Xxs" Jing, and Pan "Fade" Yi will be monitored together with ChYuan. The confirmed case was only three rows away from the players of Team Aster.

This comes despite the team taking precautions regarding its return home.

Team Aster flew four of its players home via Finland due to a decrease in the number of flights heading to China. Song "Sccc" Chun, substitute coach Zhang "LaNm" Zhicheng, and team manager Guo Zhili returned home via a connecting flight in Germany. They predicted they will need to undergo a mandatory quarantine due to restrictions placed on those traveling from Germany.

ESL One LA Major was an absolute disaster for Team Aster

Team Aster managed to qualify for the ESL One LA Major by winning the StarLadder Minor, but they are likely wishing they were eliminated in the qualifiers at this point.

Even before the event's cancellation, the team was stuck in Kiev as it attempted to sort out visa applications for its players. Team Aster even reached out to big names such as Anathan "ana" Pham in case their visas got denied.

With the indefinite postponement of ESL One Los Angeles, the team decided to return to China. Even under ideal circumstances, that's a brutally long journey, but it was made even more harrowing with the travel restrictions and quarantines.

Team Aster is still expected to compete in the upcoming Chinese Dota 2 Professional Association against China’s powerhouse teams such as Vici Gaming, Invictus Gaming, and PSG.LGD.
