With North America’s LCS was postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak, four LCS contenders are making the most of their free time by holding a charity stream for those affected by the virus and their families. The tournament, hosted on Cloud9’s Twitch channel, started last night as Alex “MadMagical” Whieldon and Erik “DoA” Lonnquist took over the casting duties for the night’s matches.

Dignitas, Cloud9, Immortals, and Flyquest are all participating in a days-long charity stream over the course of the week. In an effort to bring both smiles and awareness to fans about how to prevent the illness, the tournament is cheekily called the “Wash ‘yo Hands Tourney.” All proceeds from the four-day-long, round-robin event will be donated to the California Community Foundation COVID-19 LA County Community Response Fund.

C9’s shows off clean fight selection versus DIG before LCS return

First up, C9 and Dignitas played what looked like it could have been an actual LCS matchup as C9 steamrolled Dignitas, taking a Baron, an ace, and the Nexus at 25 minutes. C9 almost made a massive error,  letting the bot inhibitor respawn with the DIG’s nexus at just a sliver of HP. It was a minor hiccup, as C9 took care of business with measured aggression.

Flyquest’s slow and steady strategy against IMT picks up Wash Yo Hands win

Last night saw FlyQuest beat Immortals in a 36-minute match that had a total of 95 kills as
Jason “WildTurtle” Tran’s Mordekaiser went 12/6/11 in the win. Flyquest had several chances to end the game over that time, but the team played up the fights, raising $380 for CCRF. In an LCS that has featured short games all season, Flyquest’s match felt like a feature-length movie.

LCS teams have been organizing inhouse events between teams for the better part of a week after the LCS abruptly postposed in-studio games due to health concerns. Thankfully, LCS commissioner Chris Greeley released a statement announcing that the LCS would continue in an online fashion going forward until Riot is given the all-clear from county health officials.

In addition to aiming for $10,000 in donations, Cloud9 is also offering a donation to the CCRF in addition to free shipping when shoppers use the code “charity19” at the Cloud09 store.
