OG.Seed and Fnatic got the better of top contenders Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid in the group stage of Dota Summit 12.

Fnatic kicked off the event with a clean 2-0 sweep against Team Liquid, and followed this up with a decisive win over Cloud9. That loss to Fnatic kicked off a devastatingly bad run at the event for the newly formed team.

Alongside this, OG.Seed started its run with a split series against Evil Geniuses, and did the same against Thunder Predator. OG.Seed went into a higher gear from there, however. The team then faced European nemesis Team Liquid picked up a strong 2-0 win to close out its first day at the event.

On day two, Cloud9's struggles continued. The team's losses were piling up and the team quickly found itself mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. The team was ultimately eliminated with a 0-10 record in the group stage.

The group stage ended with Liquid and Thunder Predator tied for points, which led to a best-of-one tiebreaker to determine which team would be eliminated.

The game saw Leonardo "LeoStyle-" Sifuentes deal massive damage as Puck and elude enemies consistently, leading Thunder Predator to a decent lead through the mid game. Team Liquid had a few tricks under its sleeves, though. The team bought time for Michael "miCKe" Vu's Spectre to get online and, after picking up a few items, Liquid was able to close out the game and stay alive in the tournament.

Cloud9 and Thunder Predator exited the tournament while OG.Seed, Fnatic, Evil Geniuses, and Team Liquid advanced to the playoffs.

Fans were particularly impressed with the performance of OG.Seed. Its coach and back-to-back TI champion Johan "N0tail" Sundstein is eager to bring OG’s sister team into the limelight.
