It didn’t take very long for Winstrike Team to find its way back into Dota 2.

Just a few days after dropping its entire roster, the organization announced the signing of the ex-Modus Unity squad. The acquisition marks a serious change in direction for Winstrike, as they transition from fielding squads comprised of CIS veterans to a younger up-and-coming team.

The new Winstrike Team roster consists of the following players:

  1. Stanislav “чикиряу” Yarosevich
  2. Nikita “Young G” Bochko
  3. Vladislav “DKFogas” Frolov
  4. Sergey “[T]SA” Timchenko
  5. Dmitrii “kickeed” Pilyayev

“I have high hopes for our youth players. We are ready to give them more than one chance so that the guys will have time to prove themselves. They can count on our help to get results,” Winstrike Team sporting director Andrei Kvasnevskii said in a statement. “I can assure our fans that we have a clear plan of how the team will grow and where they should get to.”

New Winstrike Team looking to rebuild for EPICENTER Major

Winstrike Team has consistently been an organization to watch due to its focus on fielding star-studded rosters, often comprised of former talent from top CIS organizations. Despite often being packed with proven names, Winstrike hasn’t been able to find even modest success in tournaments.

The organization has earned cash prizes at just three events through its history. This is absolutely stunning given the fact that accomplished players such as Nikita “Daxak” Kuzmin, Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk, and Vladimir “RodjER” Nikogosyan have had stints with the team. Winstrike’s approach to Dota 2 simply hasn’t worked for the organization, and picking up Modus Unity seems like a better option than slapping together another stack of top free agents.

Modus Unity has been reasonably successful competing in various CIS leagues, but didn’t post a particularly impressive performance against high-end opponents until recently. The team successfully cleared the CIS open qualifiers for the ESL One Los Angeles Major. It was eliminated from the group stage of the closed qualifiers with a 2-6 record.

Winstrike is hoping that it can help bring out the team’s potential in time for the 2020 EPICENTER Major. The organization is undoubtedly hopeful it can earn a spot in the Moscow event.
