Cloud9 destroys EG, still undefeated in the 2020 LCS Spring Split

Cloud9 closed Week 4 in the 2020 LCS Spring season with a convincing victory over Evil Geniuses, and the team remains undefeated.

C9 just crossed another name on its list. The team earned its eighth consecutive victory of the season and is getting closer to the perfect split. The match against Evil Geniuses was a one-sided affair that finished one second before the 30-minute mark.

Evil Geniuses tried its best, came up short vs C9

So far in the season, C9 has been a relentless force that chokes the enemy out. For most teams, it’s impossible to get even, let alone repel them. It’s a combination of aggression and smart play that makes C9 the strongest team in the league at the moment.

Coming into the match, C9 didn’t have to do anything special in the pick and bans. The team drafted for comfort. Evil Geniuses also went for comfortable picks with decent scaling and engage tools.

Evil Geniuses started the game being proactive with jungler Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen invading C9’s side of the jungle. Unfortunately for him, wherever he went, Robert “Blaber” Huang followed. Blaber managed to both shadow Svenskeren and farm his camps.

Blaber was ready to counter every one of Svenskeren’s plays, as the C9 jungler was at the right place at the right time in every play. Despite the frustration from being scouted that hard, Svenskeren kept trying to make things happen on the map for his team. Evil Geniuses had the best intentions in mind, but the wrong ideas.

At times, one of the EG players would engage without backup, or two players would go for completely different plays on the same side of the map. C9 took advantage of the enemy’s miscommunication and punished every mistake hard. 25 minutes into the match, C9 already had the Dragon Soul and an eight thousand gold advantage. The victory was guaranteed.

Even though the team was terribly behind, Evil Geniuses never stopped trying to find picks. Evil Geniuses tried its best, but C9 was simply too good.
