Gen.G Esports has announced Han “Peanut” Wang-ho as the team’s new jungler.

Gen.G is keeping changes to a minimum for the new season, as the team signed Peanut as the new jungler and kept the rest of their existing roster intact.

After releasing Lee “Crown” Min-ho, Kang “Ambition” Chan-yong, Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in, and Kang “Haru” Min-seung, the team was expected to sign multiple players. Instead, Gen.G is turning to the remaining members of the team to pick up the slack.

Peanut will jump into the rift alongside Lee “CuVee” Seong-jin, Song “Fly” Yong-jun, Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk, and Kim “Life” Jeong-min. All four players renewed their contracts with Gen.G through 2019.

After winning the 2017 World Championship, the team failed to keep their championship form in 2018. Gen.G was the first Korean team to be eliminated from this year’s World Championship. Now the organization is focusing on returning to its former glory and bringing more titles home.

Peanut is the key to this new strategy. Despite his young age, Peanut has plenty of international experience under his belt, including a World Championship run with SK Telecom T1. Known for his aggressive jungling style, Peanut’s contract with Gen.G makes him the best-paid jungler in the LCK.

“I really liked Gen.G esports’ vision, goal, team members, and its welfare. Because Gen.G never won in LCK, my short-term goal is to win LCK. As a long-term goal, of course, I want to win Worlds,” Peanut said.
