G2 Esports remains undefeated in the 2020 LEC Spring Split after a decisive victory over Fnatic.

For the longest time, European League of Legends has been all about G2 and Fnatic. In 14 splits, the title has gone to one of those two teams 13 times.

In week three of the 2020 LEC Spring, Fnatic had a chance to force its way into first place, while G2 just wanted to keep its winning streak going.

G2 puts on serious face for game against Fnatic

G2 put experimentation aside and drafted a standard composition with strong scaling. Fnatic went for absolute comfort with Veigar in the mid lane.

The action started at level one when Fnatic walked into G2’s side of the jungle to delay the clearing from Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski. The teams brawled in the jungle and burned spells with reckless abandon. In the end, both teams walked away with all its members alive.

G2 made the first move in the bottom lane. The team collapsed as four and secured two kills. Jankos kept the pressure on and went to the top lane to get another kill. Fnatic focused on the dragon and keeping its bottom lane even in gold.

G2 didn’t give Fnatic any room to breathe, but what looked like the perfect early game turned around with a play by Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek. The jungler jumped over a wall and kicked Rasmus “Caps” Winther towards the rest of the Fnatic players. Fnatic followed up on the play to secure even more kills.

The play by Selfmade gave Fnatic momentum and the team was comfortable playing more aggressively. G2 slowed down and made plays while Fnatic’s big spells were on cooldown. Fnatic had the superior team fight composition, but G2 Esports countered with strong split pushing.

One team fight around the dragon pit sealed the fate of the game. G2 was patient and played the fight slowly. Fnatic was scattered and G2 took them down one by one.

That single fight gave G2 total control of the map and the game. Fnatic grew desperate and tried to force the plays wherever they could. G2 remained calm, cool, and collected through it all and waited for Fnatic to run towards them.

31 minutes into the game, G2 aced Fnatic inside its own base and claimed its sixth victory of the season.
