G2 Esports continues undefeated in the 2020 LEC Spring Split after a dominant victory over Team Vitality.

It’s week two in the LEC and G2 is already taking over the standings with three clean victories and no defeats. The most recent victim of G2’s power was Vitality, which now stands in last place with three defeats. History is repeating itself with G2 at the top of the rankings, taking the opponents down like it’s not a big deal.

G2 decided to make it interesting and picked Soraka in the top lane for Martin “Wunder” Hansen. Earlier in the day, the top laner promised on Twitter that he would play Sona, Soraka was the next best thing for G2. In the lane against Ornn, Soraka had the tools to poke and consistently clear the waves. Wunder’s itemization followed the regular support path with emphasis on utility over ability power.

G2 had a slow, clean early game. The laning stage was one of G2’s weaknesses and something that FunPlus Phoenix exploited in the 2019 League of Legends World Championship finals. On the other side of the map, Vitality didn’t oppose much and played more of a reactive style. Vitality was always late to the plays and as the game progressed, their efforts to defend became clumsier.

Around the 13-minute mark, G2 took two outer turrets and the fate of the game was sealed. Vitality ran out of options quickly and all they could do was resist for as long as possible. 19 minutes into the game, G2 destroyed the top lane inhibitor and it would be the final nail in the coffin.

G2 took a little more time getting extra gold, more items, and every neutral objective they could find. The final push was just a formality, as the Vitality players could only make it one step out of the fountain before they had a G2 player throwing everything at them. Minutes later, G2 claimed its third victory of the split.

Right now, G2 is tied in first place with Origen. Vitality is sharing the bottom of the standings with FC Schalke 04.
