Dignitas runs over Evil Geniuses in day 2 of 2020 LCS Spring

The second day of the 2020 LCS Spring Split opened with a match between Dignitas and Evil Geniuses. Dignitas opened its season with a decisive win over Counter Logic Gaming on the first day, and has now secured a second win just as easily.

Tahm Kench is shaping up to be a popular pick this season and Evil Geniuses locked him in alongside Aphelios for Bae "Bang" Jun-sik. Dignitas responded by having rookie bot laner Johnson "Johnsun" Nguyen pick Senna and star player Henrik "Froggen" Hansen take Orianna.

A calm start to the second day of the 2020 LCS Spring Split

The first five minutes of the game were largely calm and assets were equally distributed between the two teams.

Dignitas was trying to pressure objectives, but Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon's attempt to take the Rift Herald alone backfired. EG was quick to respond by starting the first team fight of the game and stealing the objective away. Evil Geniuses used the Rift Herald to pressure mid lane, taking the first blood on Froggen, but couldn't take down the turret.

EG kept the pressure high but DIG didn’t buckle, with the teams going back and forth. Dignitas took over the top lane, Evil Geniuses held onto the bottom lane, and the mid lane was a constant battleground. This stalemate didn't hold forever, as Dignitas played the lanes better and started to take control.

With a well-farmed Huni forcing reactions from Evil Geniuses, DIG zoned EG out of the pit far enough to capture the Rift Herald. They used it right after to take their first defensive line in the middle.

This play allowed DIG to head into the mid game as a stronger team. EG was making mistakes, and Dignitas was using them to their advantage.

25 minutes in, DIG took the Baron which EG couldn’t even contest. With pressure from Froggen and Johnsun melting the lanes, and Evil Geniuses staying a safe distance away, Dignitas gave EG no room to chip away at the lead.

The damage from DIG just kept coming in, with the team wiping out EG’s players just as fast as the base.

Dignitas has started the season strong, taking its second win in two days with little difficulty. Evil Geniuses will be looking to recover on Monday against 100 Thieves, a fight EG .
