FunPlus Phoenix decide on 2019 Worlds champion skins

The 2019 World Champion FunPlus Phoenix have made a definitive decision on champions that will be wearing the team’s colors with new skins.

FPX mid laner Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang shared during a live stream which five FPX skins League of Legends players will be able to buy in the stores this spring. World Champion skins are coming for Gangplank, Lee Sin, Malphite, Vayne, and Thresh. FPX is the seventh champion to receive team skins, and they're not the first for Lee Sin and Thresh.

Most of the players picked champions they played for a few games during Worlds 2019, including the finals. Kim "GimGoon" Han-saem's Gangplank was his favorite, while Gao "Tian" Tian-Liang’s was the Lee Sin pick that earned him the MVP award. Lin "Lwx" Wei-Xiang and Liu "Crisp" Qing-Song chose Vayne and Thresh for their respective champion skins.

However, the star player Doinb had a different idea. He really only played Malphite once at Worlds, fighting against GAM Esports in the group stage.

Doinb surprises fans with the World Champion Malphite pick

Doinb doesn’t hide his love and gratefulness for his wife Umi Lee, even dedicating a big chunk of his post-final interview to share his appreciation and thank her for the support. She has been with him every step of the way, which is why he chose to dedicate his World Champion skin to her.

According to Reddit user u/lollideath’s translations of Doinb’s stream, Malphite is the only champion Umi can play, and Doinb is very excited about it.

“It will be the coolest Malphite skin ever,” Doinb shared with fans. “I have told Riot 100 times that they must add the dance move to the skin.”

Although appreciating the gesture, western fans are wishing Doinb picked a champion he used more at Worlds, such as Ryze or Nautilus. But the decision has been made, and it had to be one he can cherish as a champion after all.
