YouTube megastar Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg has deleted his Twitter after accusing various media outlets of using his break from YouTube as clickbait.

“What I don’t like is the constant posturing going on [on Twitter]. People can’t help themselves from pointing out how others are bad to the point where it almost becomes fiction. I don’t mind that this happens. I understand that it does. But I don’t like how it gets rewarded with likes and engagement,” PewDiePie ranted in a video titled, “I Hate Twitter.”

PewDiePie added that Twitter has become a “cesspool of opinion,” full of people that want to be rewarded for simply acting virtuous.

He wiped his Twitter clean an hour after posting the video to YouTube. While his account is still up, PewDiePie claimed in his Twitter bio that it’s only to prevent fake accounts from popping up and claiming to be him.

A few hours before PewDiePie deleted all of his tweets, he shared a screenshot of the Daily Mail’s post about his upcoming break from YouTube. The image shows the headline, “BREAKING: PewDiePie quits YouTube saying he’s too tired to go on.” He accompanied it with a quote saying, “Me: I’m taking a break for a little while,” an attempt to show the clickbait title’s innacuracy.

PewDiePie announces break from YouTube

With 102 million YouTube subscribers, PewDiePie is undeniably the most popular person on the video uploading platform. He posts a new video almost every day, usually highlighting YouTube-related news from the week or reacting to popular memes on Reddit. But on December 14, PewDiePie dropped a bombshell on his video titled, “YouTube’s Update Has a Big Flaw.”

The Swedish streamer is taking a break from YouTube.

After bashing YouTube for incorrectly enforcing their new harassment policy, PewDiePie told fans he had made up his mind about taking a break from uploading videos in 2020.

“I’m tired. I’m feeling very tired. I don’t know if you can tell. Just so you know, early next year I’ll be away for a little while. I’ll explain that later but I wanted to give a heads up,” he said.
