RNG re-signs Uzi, adds Betty and Xiaolongbao for LPL 2020 season
Royal Never Give Up has squared away its League of Legends roster for the LPL 2020 season.
The organization has signed Lu "Betty" Yu-Hung and Li "Xiaolongbao" Xiao-Long. Alongside this, Wang "S1xu" Kang-Can and Zhang "yuekai" Yue-Kai have been promoted from RNG's academy team to its main roster. Finally, Royal Never Give Up also shared Jian "Uzi" Zi-Hao, Shi "Ming" Sen-Ming, and Li "Xiaohu" Yuan-Hao have been re-signed.
RNG has also signed a freshly-retired veteran player Cho "Mata" Se-hyeong as the coach. The revelations were made on Twitter.
Betty and Xiaolongbao join RNG for their first LPL venture
Neither Betty or Xiaolongbao have before performed on the LPL stage.
Betty joins after three seasons playing for Flash Wolves in the LMS. During his time with the team, Betty helped Flash Wolves win a slew of local titles including both 2017 LMS splits, both 2018 splits, and LMS 2019 Spring Playoffs.
Those achievements saw him land on the international stage several times, but Flash Wolves never managed to perform especially well there. Betty and his team finished 14th at the 2017 League of Legends World Championship, and ninth at Worlds 2018, never making it out of groups.
Xiaolongbao is a newer player by comparison, having joined LDL only this year. Under the Young Miracles banner, the jungler took the title at the 2019 LDL Spring Playoffs, but fell short of that mark during the summer split. Regardless, RNG recognized his talent and signed Xiaolongbao to the big league.
RNG is looking for a Worlds comeback with a fresh roster
RNG has consistently been one of the best Chinese teams over the last few years. The team has won multiple LPL splits, Demacia Cups, and most notably won the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational.
But at Worlds, the team keeps failing to perform. The closest RNG has ever gotten to the Summoner's Cup was the semifinals of Worlds 2017. In 2019, RNG failed to clear the group stage.
With fresh faces in the team, RNG is hoping to finally realize its world championship dreams.
