KT Rolster has reinvented itself, completing its new roster for the LCK 2020 season. The massive shakeup comes after the organization narrowly avoided relegation after both splits in 2019.
KT is taking a new approach in 2020, running a seven-men roster in the upcoming season.
Jeon "Ray" Ji-won and Kim "SoHwan" Jun-yeong are the top laners for KT in 2020. Ray is playing in the LCK for the first time since his pro debut in 2014. He most recently played for Edward Gaming in the LPL. SoHwan joins the organization after parting ways with Hanwha Life Esports.
The organization will go for a double-jungler strategy with Kim "bonO" Gi-beom and Kim "Malrang" Geun-seong. bonO also comes from Hanwha, where he played alongside SoHwan. Malrang joins from Jin Air Green Wings, a team that was recently relegated to Challengers Korea after losing in the 2020 Spring Promotion Tournament.
Mid laner Lee "Kuro" Seo-haeng is returning to the LCK after competing for one year in the LPL with Bilibili Gaming. Kuro is one of the most respected mid laners in the LCK and the core player that KT needed for 2020. He is known for being a good leader and a solid player. The mid laner is reuniting with former Afreeca Freecs teammates Kim "Aiming" Ha-ram and Park "TusiN" Jong-ik.
KT’s bottom lane is looking solid for 2020, despite carrying a great deal of baggage. While TusiN is considered one of the best supports in Korea and is the type of aggressive playmaker that KT Rolster needs, Aiming's signing has been overshadowed by scandal. The player already had a bad reputation, but hit a new low last week after admitting to having a relationship with an underage fan.
The team is yet to make a statement regarding Aiming’s situation. It is unclear whether the team will punish Aiming in any way. He is currently the only bot laner signed to the team.
Should the team remain intact, KT is looking good enough to avoid relegations. Rising above the middle of the pack seems unlikely, however.
