Riot donated $10,000 to Rick Fox's charity stream for the Bahamas
Rick Fox held a 24-hour long charity stream for the Bahamas Relief Foundation. Riot Games' Social Impact Fund donated $10,000 to the stream, which ultimately raised over $60,000 in total.
The former NBA star and previous owner of Echo Fox spent his childhood days in the Bahamas, and islands that suffered tremendous damage after being caught in the Hurricane Dorian this September. To help people get back to their feet after the hurricane caused $7 million in damage, Fox organized a 24-hour charity stream for which he was joined by a number of popular personalities from the League of Legends scene.
Riot Games brings Rick Fox to tears with a large donation
Quite a few hours into the stream, Riot Social Impact Fund donated $10,000, making the largest single donation. Already exhausted, Fox couldn’t hold his feelings in as he broke out in tears.
“If I wasn’t so tired, I could fight off these emotions,” Fox said on-stream with a smile. “But you got me Riot Impact Fund, you got me. Everyone got me.”
Faker, Tyler1, Yassuo, more joined Fox in raising money
When it comes to helping people, the League community likes to come together and help by any means they can. To help Fox with his initiative and raise funds for the Bahamas, pro players and streamers took time off to join the stream as guests, and help raise awareness.
With the help of the best mid laner in the world Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Golden Guardian’s new player Greyson "Goldenglue" Gilmer, LCS shoutcaster Clayton “CaptainFlower” Raines, as well as popular streamers including Tyler “tyler1” Steinkamp and Hammoudi “Yassuo” Abdalrhman, over $60,000 was raised for the relief fund.
Fox hasn’t managed to hit the $100,000 goal of the stream but has regardless made a huge impact as he keeps on calling more people to donate. Those that wish to donate to the Bahamas Relief Foundation can do so here.
