Team Liquid bot laner Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng had some words of support for his former teammate Eugene “Pobelter” Park, who recently revealed he won’t be playing in the LCS in 2020.

On November 25, Pobelter announced that for the first time since Season 4 he wouldn’t be playing in the LCS. The mid laner was recently cut from FlyQuest, where he played for one year after being kicked off of Team Liquid.

Pobelter joins many other North American mid laners who have been replaced by imports in the LCS. Out of the seven announced mid laners for 2020, only one is North American while the rest are imports or Europeans that have earned regional residency.

“I will say, Eugene as a teammate was absolutely incredible. So good, I really liked playing with Eugene. I think it’s crazy people believe that he is bad and not worth an LCS spot,” Doublelift said. “He is easily a top three or four mid laner in the LCS.”

Doublelift and Pobelter played together in Counter Logic Gaming and then again with Team Liquid in 2018. According to Doublelift, he and Pobelter were a good combination.

The offseason is creating a lot of angst and contention thus far around the LCS. Fans are not happy with the decisions some teams are making, and great players like Pobelter and Tanner “Damonte” Damonte are left without teams to compete for next year.

“LCS cares more about stats and how they look vs winning the game brother,” wrote Damonte on Twitter.

Other players and fans showed support for Pobelter through Twitter.

“Players of your caliber shouldn’t have to play mind games/change his playstyle to a selfish one to get on teams. You’ve proven time and time again you can be a championship level player,” former 100 Thieves jungler Maurice “Amazing” Stückenschneider wrote on Twitter under Pobelter’s post.

Right now, only three LCS teams are left without a confirmed mid laner and it is unlikely that Pobelter will join any of those three teams.
