Bjergsen to miss 2019 All-Star event for TSM China bootcamp

Team SoloMid’s star mid laner Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg will not be representing the LCS at the 2019 All-Star event, which is set to begin on December 5 in Las Vegas. 

The All-Stars event is a unique happening on the League of Legends calendar in which each region sends a team made up of players voted for by the fans to compete. Not only are there traditional five-versus-five matches on Summoner’s Rift, but also more varied exhibition matches including 1v1, tandem, and this year, a traditional URF game mode. The event in 2018 also featured streaming personalities such as streamer Tyler “tyler1” Steinkamp.

Despite missing out on the 2018 event, Bjergsen attended All-Star events in 2017, 2016 and 2015. He won the 1v1 event in 2015 and finished second in 2017 behind only the LPL’s Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao. 

Bjergsen announced on twitter that he will not be attending the event this year due to his being in China practicing with his new teammates at TSM as they ready for the 2020 spring split.

“Sadly I won’t be able to attend All-Stars this year because I’ll be in Shanghai boot camping with our new roster. I really do appreciate the votes and how loyal you all continue to be through good and bad times. Hope everyone still enjoys the event!” Bjergsen said.

TSM looks to start fresh with China bootcamp

As part of their preparations for the new year, TSM will be bootcamping in Shanghai, China in order to better develop their synergies as well as to face teams from the LPL, the region which has won the past two World Championship events in dominant fashion with a pair of 3-0 sweeps in the finals. This bootcamp in December will mean Bjergsen cannot travel back to Las Vegas to take part in the event.

With TSM missing out on the previous two World Championships and with new addition Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett in the jungle while Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup and Vincent “Biofrost” Wang join together in the bottom lane, TSM will be aiming to return to championship form in 2020. They will be hoping that their bootcamps in China can help cement the new team’s synergy quickly and get them ready to compete in Season 10.
