TNC Predator qualifies for WESG 2019 Finals with win over 496 Gaming
TNC Predator’s hot streak continues.
The Dota 2 squad was tested in the World Electronic Sports Games 2019 Southeast Asia Finals but ultimately maintained its winning streak and added another trophy to its mantel. This adds to what has already been an incredibly strong start to the 2019-2020 Dota 2 season for the team.
The competition wasn’t especially stiff for TNC, as they faced several mid-tier teams such as Vietnam’s 496 Gaming, Myanmar’s Team Cyanide, Laos’ Aggressive Slayer, and Singapore’s Resurgence. This allowed TNC Predator to go undefeated in the group stage. As the top seed, the team advanced to the semifinals and stomped Team Cyanide with a clean, 2-0 sweep.
During the finals, TNC Predator faced 496 Gaming in a best-of-three series.
496 Gaming kicked off the finals with a surprise win and gave TNC Predator its only taste of defeat in the entire tournament. However, the loss did not shake TNC Predator’s morale. The team came back stronger in the second game and scored a quick, 23-minute win. From there, TNC Predator sealed the deal to win the event.
The team won $7,500 and secured a spot in the WESG 2019 Finals. TNC Predator currently has two WESG championships to its name.
TNC likely the team to beat at WESG 2019 Dota 2 Finals
TNC Predator has been great since adding Damien "kpii" Chok and Park "March" Tae-won in the aftermath of The International 2019. They joined Kim "Gabbi" Villafuerte, Armel Paul "Armel" Tabios, and Timothy John "Tims" Randrup and have added a good bit of discipline and finesse to a TNC roster that is known for its brute power.
The win in the WESG regional qualifier came alongside a win at ESL One Hamburg, which saw them become the first Southeast Asian team to win an ESL title. The team is also set to compete at the MDL Chengdu Major.
The road to The International 2020 is a long one, but this could be the start of a very good season for TNC Predator.
