T1 welcomes Cuzz, re-signs Effort after Clid leaves for Gen.G

Just a day after League of Legends fans were hit with the shocking news that T1 jungler Kim “Clid” Tae-min had departed the team to join Gen.G, T1 announced on Twitter that it has come to terms with Lee “Effort” Mun on a new deal to keep the player on the team.

Additionally, the organization confirmed that Mun “Cuzz” U-Chan will be joining the roster as the new starting jungler after splitting off from DragonX. Both players were signed to multi-year deals.

The two players will be on T1’s starting roster for the upcoming 2020 LCK Spring Split. This could keep T1 in position to follow up on its strong 2019 season, which included two LCK split championships as well as a top-four finish at the 2019 League of Legends World Championship. 

Cuzz is looking to return his former glory alongside Faker

Cuzz has been playing as a jungler on the LCK stage since 2016, when he joined Longzhu Gaming. He has stuck with the organization through multiple re-brandings, which included the team becoming Kingzone DragonX and, most recently, DragonX.

Throughout his competitive history, Cuzz has shown himself to be an exceptional jungler on several occasions. He was at the top of the 2017 LCK Summer Split, placed fifth at Worlds 2017, and dominated during the 2018 LCK Spring Split.

Since then, DragonX hasn’t been able to overcome the best Korean teams, which has seen Cuzz fade from the international stage. The 2019 LCK Summer Split split saw Kingzone DragonX finish the season 9-9 overall and fail to qualify for Worlds.

Cuzz is undoubtedly anxious to compete at events like MSI and Worlds and he has a good chance of doing so on the Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok-led team.

T1 hungry for another Worlds title in LoL 2020 season

Given their long history as the top team in competitive League of Legends, T1 was dissatisfied with their top-four finish at Worlds 2019. Despite entering the event as one of the favorites and posting a strong performance in the group stage, SKT stumbled in the semifinals and lost to international rivals G2 Esports.

The roster for next season is shaping up to be a strong one, but T1 still needs to find a top laner with Kim “Khan” Dong-ha currently a free agent.
