Clid, Rascal, and Bdd sign with Gen.G for 2020 LCK season
Gen.G has announced that Kim "Clid" Tae-min, Kim "Rascal" Kwang-hee, and Gwak "Bdd" Bo-seong have been signed to the organization's League of Legends roster for the 2020 LoL Championship Korea season.
News of Rascal leaving DragonX and Bdd splitting off from KT Rolster wasn't a shock to fans. Far more surprising was the reveal that T1’s jungler was splitting off from the organization after a highly successful 2019 season.
T1's Clid moves to Gen.G for the 2020 season
Clid was part of the SK Telecom T1 roster that was built around Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok in 2018. After an unsatisfying LCK 2018 Summer Split that saw the team fail to qualify for the 2018 League of Legends World Championship, the new roster returned SKT to its former glory in 2019. The team finished first in both the LCK 2019 Spring Playoffs, and the LCK 2019 Summer Playoffs and qualified for Worlds 2019 as Korea's first seed.
Although SKT didn't win, the organization still posted a strong performance at Worlds that saw them reach the semifinals before falling to G2 Esports. Clid was arguably the team's best player throughout the event, a fact that didn't go unnoticed by fans both in and out of Korea.
That success makes his departure all the more surprising.
Unlike T1, Gen.G isn’t at the top of the region. The organization is making sweeping changes to its roster this season and though the new lineup is star-studded, success is far from guaranteed. Odds are that Gen.G made Clid an offer he couldn't refuse and he will help the team become a force in the LCK in 2020.
Though Clid is is splitting off from one of League's top organizations to join Gen.G, both Rascal and Bdd are almost certainly heading to greener pastures. DragonX and KT Rolster landed in seventh and eighth in the LCK, respectively, and could be in for a tough 2020.
