Grand Theft Auto fans have a lot to look forward to if leaks about Rockstar Entertainment’s release schedule are true.

According to an anonymous leaker, Rockstar Games plans to remake three of their acclaimed titles before the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. The remakes will be created in the Unreal engine, the same framework powering Grand Theft Auto 6. The intended release dates for the remakes have been slated for some time in late October to early November on almost every available platform.

The three titles selected for recreation are Grand Theft Auto III, San Andreas, and Vice City. The three games represent Rockstar’s efforts during the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox console generation, with those games being the driving force behind GTA’s rise to blockbuster status. All three games are critically acclaimed for their attention to detail and sandbox gameplay.

The new GTA remake leak comes six weeks after another insider claimed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is slated for 2025. Rumors of the next GTA game returning to Vice City might have stemmed from the remake. Rockstar Dundee is reportedly creating the remakes, and their development is the reason behind the slower content releases for Red Dead Online in 2021.

What platforms will Grand Theft Auto remakes be on?

The GTA remakes are set to launch on basically every modern platform including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia. Alongside this will be mobile versions of the GTA remakes after the initial launch, arriving at some point in 2022.

Finally, Rockstar Games is currently considering more remasters of their older titles, starting with the original Red Dead Redemption. Whether the project moves forward will depend on the success of the GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas remakes.
