Ex-OWL pro Dafran receives 30-day ban from Twitch

Former Atlanta Reign player and current Twitch streamer Daniel “Dafran” Francesca has been banned from Twitch for 30 days.

“I got banned 30 days my dudes. I will try and appeal it,” Dafran said on Twitter. “You all know I say stupid shit all the time. This time my ignorance fucked me. I will keep you updated on the appeal.”

The specific reason for the ban wasn’t explained, but it’s likely that the timeout comes from an incident that happened on stream a few days ago.

Fans who follow Dafran know that he can be especially vitriolic towards his team during Overwatch streams and this incident seems to be no different. Dafran went on a profanity-laden rant and ripped into his teammates during a ranked match on Nepal. His team lost, which prompted the former OWL pro to rage quit the game and end his stream abruptly.

Dafran is no stranger to the spotlight when it comes to his attitude. His stint with the Reign was short-lived and he ended up retiring from professional Overwatch before the season ended. For many fans it made sense, as Dafran wasn’t allowed to have the personality he wanted while representing a professional team. When he announced the move to full-time streaming, he seemed to be happy about the change.

However, Dafran will have to wait 30 days in order to continue making his living, unless his appeal is granted. This comes just one day after he expressed pride over attracting 19,500 viewers to his stream.

While he waits for his appeal to be considered, fans are urging him to switch to Mixer and possibly stay there rather than dealing with Twitch’s oft-maligned moderators. Mixer has attracted a great deal of attention in recent months by signing exclusive deals with wildly popular streamers Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek.

So far, Dafran hasn’t made any additional comments about the ban and there’s been no word about a stream on Mixer.
