Chaos Esports Club is back in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive business.
The organization has announced the acquisition of a new North American roster with the sponsorship of Ben’s Anime Team. The news was revealed on Twitter, with the new lineup standing as follows:
Chaos also adds Alan “Shakezullah” Hardeman, who has been working as the team’s coach.
"Back in September we released our long-standing Swedish CSGO roster...After several months of searching for the right fit we have found the perfect team to relaunch our CSGO division," the organization said in a statement. "Chaos EC is happy to announce that we will be moving Ben’s Anime Team to Atlanta, Georgia to compete full time under the Chaos EC banner."
Ben’s Anime Team formed around its namesake, ben1337, in October amid the StarLadder Berlin Major roster shuffle. The lineup brings together a number of North American veterans including former Ghost Gaming player steel, Cam from Team Singularity, and Infinite from Lazarus Esports. Wippie rounded out the roster a few weeks later.
The team has been competing in a number of different regional leagues including the ESEA Season 32 North American Premier Division, WINNERS League Season 3, and WESG 2019 North America. During that time, Ben’s Anime Team has defeated a number of notable opponents including eUnited, Team Envy, and INTZ Esports.
Chaos will look to expand that success to larger tournaments.
Chaos Esports Club comes back to CSGO with new roster
Chaos initially entered the CSGO scene in 2018 under the Digital Chaos name, signing the all-Swedish Enyoy lineup led by former Fnatic in-game leader Markus "pronax" Wallsten and Ninjas in Pyjamas alumnus Mikail "Maikelele" Bill. The team struggled throughout the year with both poor results and regular roster changes.
Things went slightly better in 2019 as the organization made fewer changes to the lineup, but the results weren’t much improved. The team’s biggest victories were taking first place in OGA Counter PIT Season 3 and qualifying for DreamHack Open Summer 2019.
The organization declined to renew the contracts of its CSGO lineup in September.
“Starting today we will be parting ways with the current Chaos Counter-Strike roster. The teams contracts have expired and we’re opting not to renew as we look to reposition within the scene,” Chaos said in a statement at the time. “Due to lack of organizational support in Sweden, we sometimes struggled to provide the Japaleno squad with a 110% level of support, which we aspire to do with any player competing under the Chaos banner.”
The team openly stated that it was looking to add a North American team. Reports at the time suggested the organization was targeting Cam, steel, and Infinite, as well as Will "RUSH" Wierzba and Christian "NaToSaphiX" Sillassen.
Ben’s Anime Team is scheduled to make its debut as Chaos Esports Club later this week in WINNERS League Season 3.
