Legends of Runeterra, Riot Games’ new digital card game based on the wildly popular League of Legends franchise, has had its first testing phase and now fans are wondering when the next phase begins.

The developers have said there would be a second preview patch shortly after the first one, and then later announced that it would begin on November 14. The first preview patch was released immediately following the announcement of the game during the League of Legends 10th Anniversary Celebration.

Many fans looking to get their shot at a personal experience with the game’s features didn’t have much of a chance in the first round of testing. It was reportedly difficult to get in on the first phase, and that’s why the next phase is highly anticipated.

For players who did get into the first round of testing, the developers have confirmed that those players will not need a new code to get into the second round, but their progress in the game may be reset to keep the playing field more even between new and returning players. Coins purchased through microtransactions to buy cards will be refunded so that players can use them again.

The first phase was available to a handful of gamers so that the developers could get an idea of what needs to be immediately fixed, but the features of the game were fairly bare bones. Developers wanted to target the faults of the base gameplay before jumping into the more elaborate parts of the full game.

As with most games that are in beta testing, each phase will add more and more features as confirmed by the developers in a Reddit AMA. The game will see expansions of the beta in the form of a new game mode along with normal fixes, improvements, and updates.

Further details will be released in the coming weeks as Riot prepares to launch its closed beta launch in the beginning of 2020.
