Brad returns to OWL as head coach of ATL
The Atlanta Reign announced its roster for Season 2 of the Overwatch League, and a familiar face will be at the helm.
Brad “sephy” Rajani will be the head coach of Atlanta’s newly announced Overwatch League team.
Rajani’s coaching staff will be rounded out by assistant coach Dimitri “Silence” Couturet, player development coach Cas “Casores” Van Andel, and data analyst Danny “Danny” Mychakov.
Rajani was most recently in the Overwatch League as the head coach of the San Francisco Shock. Rajani was put in charge of a hybrid squad of Korean free agents and his former team, Selfless Gaming, by the Shock ownership at NRG Esports.
Rajani coached the Shock through the first three stages of Overwatch League before being replaced by former Boston Uprising head coach Dae-Hee “Crusty” Park. San Francisco was 12-18 during Rajani’s stint as head coach.
The Reign’s roster is highlighted by popular streamer Daniel “Dafran” Francesca. Dafran most recently played professionally as DPS on Selfless Gaming in 2017. A hybrid roster will be joining the reunited duo of Rajani and Dafran on the Reign. In addition to Dongmin “Dongmin” Jeong joining as a Korean translator, Rajani’s own experience with the old Shock roster gives him knowledge in how to approach coaching both Korean-speaking and English-speaking players.
Atlanta Reign’s roster consists of an assortment of players from the Overwatch Contenders scene around the world. The squad will be made up of South Korean, Chinese, European, and American players, and bringing them all together looks to be a tall task for Rajani and the rest of the Atlanta coaching staff.
Atlanta Reign’s spot in the Overwatch League was purchased by Georgia conglomerate Cox Enterprises earlier this summer. It is one of two Overwatch League expansion teams based in the United States, with the other being Washington, D.C.
