Dallas Fuel has signed its first new player for Season 2 of the Overwatch League.

Jung “Closer” Won-sik is coming off an Overwatch League Championship with London Spitfire, where he was the substitute for flex support Choi “Bdosin” Seung-tae. He will be the third support player on Dallas Fuel’s roster, along with Benjamin “uNKOE” Chevasson and Jonathan “Harryhook” Tejedor Rua.

In an announcement video on the team’s twitter, Dallas Fuel Head Coach Aaron “Aero” Atkins gave fans reason to be excited about the signing.

“The first time Closer played with the team, I knew he would be a perfect fit. He’s an extremely smart, talented individual, and he’s going to do great with us,” Aero said.

Closer mains Lucio, Ana, and Mercy, and will bring flexibility to the Fuel in-game. Out of game, Closer’s experience as part of the active roster for the championship run for London Spitfire will hopefully provide Dallas Fuel with more stability in tense matches.

Closer’s presence on London Spitfire will be missed. The team released a statement thanking him and wishing him the best with his new team via twitter.

The post also included a link to an extended thank you via the London Spitfire official website. Spitfire General Manager Susie Kim’s personal message to Closer spoke to the player’s character.

“Closer has been an incredible positive force for our team and I am sad to let him go, but at the same time, happy that he’ll be able to shine and continue building his career with Dallas!” Kim said.

Dallas Fuel finished the season strong by qualifying for the Stage 4 Playoffs. Closer will be integral to continuing that success into 2019.
