Fnatic struggles against Royal Never Give Up again at Worlds 2019

Royal Never Give Up and Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao styled on Fnatic to get their second win at the 2019 League of Legends World Championship.

History repeated itself in Berlin as the Chinese organization once again made quick work of Fnatic to get in position for a spot in the Worlds 2019 Knockout Stage. Fnatic continues to come up shy against its biggest international rival and now holds a losing record in the tournament.

RNG started by banning Yuumi, Fnatic’s most-played champion at Worlds. Fnatic adapted by picking Morgana and Blitzcrank in the bottom lane while RNG went for a standard duo. Fnatic’s composition had a single source of damage, Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek’s Kayle. The plan was to protect Nemesis and hope he could take over the game after level 16.

Fnatic had good moments, picking up the necessary kills to get Kayle to the top of the server. RNG read the strategy and decided to focus on Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov to deny his initiation.

Xie “Langx” Zhen-Ying, Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao, and Uzi found the openings to execute ganks and prevent Fnatic from gaining any sort of serious lead. Fnatic’s defense was good, but was stretched thin against RNG’s three carries. RNG kept Fnatic in a submissive position until they decided to turn up the heat with the second baron buff.

In a play that Hung “Karsa” Hao-Hsuan described as “desperate,” Fnatic set up to get the second baron of the game. RNG was ready to contest and overwhelmed Fnatic with their superior damage output.

Uzi on Xayah had feathers flying around, rooting enemies and sending them to the death chamber one after another. RNG aced Fnatic and started the march into the enemy base to get the win.

Fnatic now stands in third place with two defeats and one victory. Group C will return to the stage on October 19.
