Danish Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team North has signed René “cajunb” Borg to replace Valdemar “valde” Vangså as the latter player is now benched.

North has announced that cajunb, who played for the team’s original roster in 2017, is coming back to the team after he split paths with them in February of last year. While away from North, cajunb represented OpTic Gaming and later Cloud9 for a short period of time.

“When we build towards the future, we need hard-working players who help develop the team chemistry,” North’s director of esports Jonas Svendsen said in the announcement. “We believe that René fits that profile perfectly.”

After a less successful season under OpTic and Cloud9’s banners, the veteran player is excited to join North’s roster once again in hopes of repeating the success the team had when it had just started, when they placed first at ESL Pro League Europe Season 5, second at DreamHack Masters Malmö 2017, and won DreamHack Open Montreal 2017.

“We have only been playing for a week, but our chemistry is really good and I am positively surprised,” cajunb shared in a video announcement. “I have been abroad two times and it has taught me a lot on how to approach the game. It has also given me discipline, and I think I can show the guys how to approach things.”

North’s 2019 hasn’t been too full of achievements and the organization is looking to change that by bringing back cajunb. After a few top-ten placements at S-tier tournaments and wins at qualifiers and minors, the team was eliminated from the 2019 StarLadder Berlin Major in 12th place, and in 13th from DreamHack Masters Malmö earlier in October. It’s worth noting however that at both tournaments, North was eliminated by Team Liquid, one of the best CSGO teams in the world.

The news of cajunb joining North in valde’s place comes soon after rumors that valde will soon be joining OG’s new CSGO roster. At the same time, Casper “cadiaN” Møller, who North has benched in May, has been acquired by Heroic.
