Hong Kong Attitude secures a spot in LoL Worlds 2019 main event

Hong Kong Attitude secured a spot at the 2019 League of Legends World Championship main event with a victory over Isurus Gaming. The LLA’s finest are heading home after taking a 3-1 loss to HKA.

Both of these teams had a shaky showing in the first part of play-ins. While HKA now advances to the main event, the win wasn’t quite impressive enough to feel bullish about their chances there.

Hong Kong Attitude advances in LoL Worlds over Isurus Gaming

Hong Kong Attitude started the game with a convincing victory.

The team checked all of the boxes for a strong performance, makings smart rotations and keeping its focus on the objectives. Superior vision control allowed them to sneak the Baron buff and get the first win of the day.

Isurus hit back in game two. Édgar Ali “Seiya” Bracamontes finally showed up at Worlds, with the mid laner’s Akali proving to be a difference-maker for the team. Seiya led the team to victory with a strong presence in the side lanes and clean execution in team fights. After game two, it looked like Isurus could win the series.

Game three was slower. The teams were once again on even ground and knew that one mistake would be extremely costly. Hong Kong Attitude focused on the macro game by playing the map around their vision.

Hong Kong Attitude’s composition had better options in the late game so the team was content in letting the clock run. When it became obvious that Isurus couldn’t respond to the enemy attacks, Hong Kong Attitude hit the gas and barged into the base.

The LMS representative closed the series in the fourth game. Chen “3z” Han got the best of Mateo Alejandro “Buggax” Aroztegui Zamora in the early game with his Tristana, a situation that forced Isurus to swap roles in a desperate attempt to keep the top laner relevant.

Hong Kong Attitude played a 4-1 style with four players rotating together and 3z working the side lanes. Buggax caught up and purchased some key items, reaching a point where he was able to fight 3z in lane. This prompted Hong Kong Attitude to change strategies and fight for neutral objectives.

One Baron buff would make the difference for the LMS’s third seed. Though Buggax was operating at full strength, it came at the expense of his teammates.

Hong Kong Attitude took the victory and is moving to the World Championship main event. The team is likely to be seeded into Group A with Griffin, G2 Esports, and Cloud9.
