Overwatch League superstar Jehong "ryujehong" Ryu may be leaving Seoul Dynasty.
ryujehong made the announcement on a Monday, October 7 stream. Twitter translator gatamchun translated ryujehong's stream, revealing some telling words from the passionate player.
"I'm not retiring. I've gotten some offers, but I can't say from where," ryujehong told his fans.
This doesn't come as shocking news to anyone who has been following ryujehong's journey in the Overwatch League. Many viewers felt as though the flexible support player was carrying his team throughout Season 2.
Despite ryujehong's mastery of Ana, Zenyatta, and Moira, the Seoul Dynasty continued to struggle this past season. They finished 8th in the regular season and were then eliminated from the playoffs by the unpredictable Hangzhou Spark.
This left ryujehong distraught, since he knew that his team, and his fans, were relying on him so heavily. He broke down in tears during a post-game interview, struggling to answer questions through his heavy sobbing.
"Throughout the whole season, we really tried to improve ourselves and the whole gameplay and everything that we could do to go higher up in the playoffs and win everything but we, unfortunately, fell short and couldn’t do that - so I deeply, deeply apologize,” ryujehong said.
His tough season led many to assume that ryujehong was considering retirement, most likely due to stress. But instead, it seems as though ryujehong is most likely looking for a stronger team.
Many other teams are going through major changes just weeks after the Overwatch League Grand Finals. After finishing in last place, the Florida Mayhem have released five players and their coach. Most of their substitutes are now gone. Washington Justice have also dropped four players, including their tank line of Song “Janus” Jun-hwa and Kim “SanSam” Hyang-ki.
