Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is the most visible figure in the esports industry, and that was on full display during Ninja’s appearance on popular talk show Ellen.

The Fortnite player swung by the show to chat with host and comedian Ellen Degeneres about the popular game, streaming, and life. The segment was watched by tens of millions at home, and has drawn millions of more views on YouTube.

There weren’t any major revelations to be had for fans of the Luminosity star outside some casual estimates about how much money he makes while streaming, but this was the latest demonstration of just how large a public figure Ninjas has become.

Just a few weeks ago, Ninja became the first gamer to grace the cover of ESPN the Magazine, an issue which highlighted the sometimes overlooked esports industry. Alongside that, he received star treatment on television with ESPN, sitting down with Ariel Helwani to discuss his work at length in an E:60 feature.

This goes alongside his massive existing followings on multiple social media platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, and Twitter.

This appearance on Ellen is a real moment for Fortnite, Ninja, and for esports as a whole. Shining a light on streaming and competitive gaming on a massive television platform that doesn’t typically acknowledge the industry is testament to Ninja’s perceived drawing power.
