Although many in the Fortnite community have been impatiently waiting for Season X to end, the most recent patch notes revealed that the unpopular season will be extended by a further week.

“We may be almost out of time, but we’re not out just yet,” announced Epic.

According to Patch v10.40.1, Season X will now end on October 13 to give their new challenge some time in the spotlight.

Fortnite update introduces Out of Time challenge

Out of Time is coming to Fortnite on October 8. It will last until Season X ends on October 13.

Completing Out of Time’s objectives will earn players end-of-the-season rewards, which include experience points, cosmetics, and a loading screen “that serves as a Season X memento.”

Although Epic hasn’t officially announced what objectives the Out of Time challenge will bring to their playerbase, dataminers leaked the possible challenges at the end of September. Possibilities include collecting the Visitor recording on the Floating Island, Retail Row, Moisty Palms, Greasy Groves, Starry Suburbs, and Gotham City. Other objectives may include reaching Battle Pass tier levels 70 and 87.

According to the leak, completing any of the six challenges will unlock the new loading screen. The cosmetics, which include mission-themed skins, are only unlocked if participants also unlock the skins from the Battle Pass tiers.

The unlockable skins will be for Y0ND3R, Eternal Voyager, and Sparkle Supreme, if the leak is corect.

The Gameplay portion of the patch notes also includes some changes to Limited Time Modes. Zone Wars Desert, Vortex, Colosseum, and Downhill River LTMs are now consolidated into two playlists. According to the patch notes, players can queue into either playlist to play one of the four Zone Wars maps at random with a party or solo in a free-for-all experience.

Flint-Knock Pistol unvaulted

The Flint-Knock Pistol was introduced in patch 8.11, the first Fortnite weapon to have a knockback effect.

It was vaulted on August 1 when Season X began, noted on patch 10.00. It became only available in Playground and Creative, since developers wanted to reduce the number of mobility items on the map.

“Over time, we have added many mobility options, both itemized and map-based. We feel that Season X is better experienced with a reduction in mobility. As with all changes, we’ll keep a close eye on how this affects the player experience,” developers explained at the time.

Since the start of Season X, casual and professional players alike have discussed frustration with the map’s lack of mobility. Now, the Flint-Knock Pistol is back to make a difference.

This close range weapon can do an astonishing 180 damage with a head shot. It’s often used as a follow up to a shotgun to finish an opponent off. Players sometimes crouch to not be affected by the gun’s knockback, although the gun’s knockback can also be used to gain high ground in a fight or to knock enemies off of high ground.
