FURIA sign HEN1 to roster for DreamHack Masters Malmo

FURIA has officially signed Henrique “HEN1” Teles to its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster. The former Luminosity player will have his debut with his new squad on October 1 at DreamHack Masters Malmo. 

HEN1 is taking Rinaldo “ableJ” Moda Junior’s spot on the main roster. ableJ, who was promoted from the academy team in October of last year, has been moved to a substitute role. This is FURIA’s first roster change since ableJ’s promotion, which saw him replace Guilherme “spacca” Spacca. 

“His professionalism, talent, and discipline set the foundation for FURIA’s rise in the CS:GO world scene. During his time in the roster, he helped FURIA peak at #5 in the HLTV World Rankings after great results at DH Masters Dallas and ECS Season 7 Finals. We want to extend a huge thank you to ableJ for his energy in developing our primary CS:GO team,” FURIA said. 

The team went on to say that ableJ will still be practicing with the team and will continue to have a “meanginful impact” on the organization. 

HEN1 brings a lot of experience to FURIA’s current lineup. The AWPer was part of Immortals when the team finished in second place at the PGL Major Krakow in 2017. He was signed to Luminosity in June of last year, but the organization released their entire team a month ago. 

FURIA struggle to keep high standards

It didn’t seem like FURIA’s roster changes last year served the squad very well in the past few months. The Brazilian team came in a disappointing ninth place at ESL One Cologne, then dropped out of the StarLadder Major in the New Challengers Stage, finishing there with a 1-3 record. 

This is a far cry from the team’s time spent as the fifth-best CSGO team in the world. They had once competed in the semifinals at DreamHack Masters Dallas and the grand finals at the ECS Season 7 Finals. 

According to HLTV.org, this most recent roster change announcement came “just 48 hours” after FURIA lost in the semifinals at Games Clash Masters. The loss was made all the more painful since it was to Sprout, a team ranked 20 places below FURIA.
