San Francisco Shock's Sinatraa wins OWL Season 2 MVP award

The Overwatch League has its MVP for its second full season of play. San Francisco Shock DPS player Jay “Sinatraa” Won has won the award.

Sinatraa was an inaugural member of the San Francisco Shock and has been a mainstay as a first-string DPS during his time with the team.

During the GOATS meta, which eschewed DPS heroes for a lineup of three tanks and three supports, Sinatraa was forced to improvise. He was already a solid Zarya player, one of the highest damage-dealing tanks in Overwatch, and he utilized his ability on that hero to resounding success for the Shock.

Due to the success of the Shock during the GOATS meta, the Overwatch League has seen fit to give Sinatraa his MVP skin on Zarya. Sinatraa himself confirmed this during his teammate Matthew “super” DeLisi’s Twitch stream broadcast.

The Shock went into Season 2 of the Overwatch League as one of the favorites and did not disappoint. During the playoffs of the first stage they came in second to the mighty Vancouver Titans, but the Shock would best the Titans during the Stage 2 finals, completing an undefeated stage.

At the end of the Stage 3 finals, the Shock dropped a dramatic Game 7 to the Shanghai Dragons in what is sure to be regarded as one of the classic series in the game to date.

The Shock defeated the New York Excelsior during the semifinals of the seasonal playoffs to secure a spot in the Grand Finals, and will once again face off against the rival Vancouver Titans in the Grand Finals.

Sinatraa’s value to this squad can’t be overstated. He’s been a model of consistency during this season and has been one of the rocks the team leans on in the middle of its pitched firefights. He’s more than deserving of the MVP award, even if he will be getting the skin for a hero outside his main class.

That a DPS player would receive an MVP skin for a hero outside of their class is a fitting tribute to the departed GOATS meta.
