Veteran ADC Freeze looks to return to top levels of pro LoL

Marta J. September 11, 2019

With the end of the latest competitive season, MAD Lions E.C. player Aleš "Freeze" Kněžínek is exploring new opportunities in the League of Legends pro scene.

Freeze has shared a TwitLong stating that he’s going to be exploring his options during the offseason. The Czech League of Legends player is a veteran of the scene, having begun competing in 2012. After playing with now-disbanded teams H2K Gaming and Tempo Storm during the 2016 season, he was forced to step back from competitive playing due to a wrist injury.

He then continued playing for lower-tier teams Inside Games and Royal Bandits. He was picked up by Splyce’s academy team in January 2019. The team got rebranded as MAD Lions when Splyce acquired OverActive Media a few months later.

Even though his contract with MAD Lions is still active, the team didn’t have a successful season and Freeze is now free to explore new opportunities.

MAD Lions played in the Spanish league LVP SuperLiga Orange and finished the summer split in the fourth place, followed by finishing the season in fifth place in the playoffs.

Freeze details past LoL achievements and trophies

In his post, Freeze shared his achievements after the year-long break. He took the trophy of the Turkish Champions League 2019 and at Rift Rivals 2018 LCL-TCL-VCS with Royal Bandits, the LVP SLO 2019 Spring Season with MAD Lions, and was awarded the title of the most valuable player of the LPL SLO Finals in Sevilla.

Freeze is currently sitting around rank 130 in the League of Legends solo queue on the European West servers with over 750 league points. He is likely hoping that his previous achievements and his experience in the scene are now going to take him back to a higher competitive level.

Fans are hoping to see the same too, as they feel Freeze’s decision to take a break and heal his wrist unfairly cost him too much, although it was the right decision for him at the time. They wished him luck and are looking forward to seeing which team will pick him up for the upcoming 2020 League of Legends season.
