G2 Esports' Jankos wins 2019 LEC Summer MVP award

Melany M. September 9, 2019

G2 Esports’ jungler Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski is the 2019 LEC Summer MVP.

On Sunday, Jankos added two awards to his trophy case: the LEC Summer championship and the season MVP. The jungler was voted on by his peers, the LEC broadcast team, and media as the most valuable player of the season.

A team like G2 is not just about the individual performances since all five players have the ability to carry the team to victory. For them, it’s firstly about the smaller pieces that make up G2 as a whole. This season, Jankos has been the most important piece in the G2 machine.

As a jungler, Jankos enables his teammates, but he can also be the carry. He’s a flexible jungler that can go for the aggressive level two gank or farm it out and wait for level six. Jankos can play tanks like Sejuani, even though he will complain about it afterward, or carry champions like Elise and Sylas.

Jankos is selfless and is willing to give up his own farm, donate kills, and tank damage. He adapts to the situation, to unorthodox comps, and to chaotic games, and that flexibility puts him above the other junglers in Europe.

Whenever G2 dropped a game in the regular season, it was because the enemy effectively shut down Jankos. Enemies go out of their way to target the jungler because they understand how important he is for the team.

Jankos and G2 Esports prepare for 2019 World Championship

Jankos have proved himself domestically and internationally after the victory at the Mid-Season Invitational. Now, G2 is heading to the 2019 World Championship as the favorite to take the title. It would be the perfect end of the year for G2 and Jankos. G2 could win back-to-back international titles, MSI and Worlds. But it won’t be easy.

At the biggest international event of the year, Jankos will go head to head with the up-and-coming Asian junglers like LCK summer MVP Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu from Damwon Gaming and Griffin’s Lee "Tarzan" Seung-yong.

G2 and Jankos are up for the challenge and the team has its eyes on the prize. G2 will return to the stage at the World Championship main event that will kick off on October 10.
