Overwatch is coming to the Nintendo Switch and Blizzard Entertainment has shared new details on what players can expect from the game.

According to Blizzard rep Nazih Fares, the Switch version of Overwatch will run at 30 frames per second with up to 720p resolution in handheld mode and 900p when docked.

Fares also tweeted that the game will feature voice chat using Blizzard servers, with players only needing to connect a headset in order to communicate with teammates. The tweet was later deleted for unknown reasons, but was quickly saved and republished by fans.

Blizzard also hired a ringer in American developer Iron Galaxy to optimize the game for the new platform. Iron Galaxy has worked on multiple high-profile Switch ports including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Diablo III.

Overwatch on Switch will have motion controls, voice chat, and maybe more!

Eurogamer also talked with principal game producer Wes Yanagi and lead game producer Matthew Hawley, who shared Overwatch’s Switch port will feature motion controls.

The game will enjoy simultaneous launch of patches over all platforms, but is not likely to have cross-platform gameplay. Hawley shared that although Blizzard has discussed cross-platform gameplay, the developer does not feel they are technically ready for it. “We’re just not in a place yet from a technical or a business side that we can make any sort of commitment on that front,” he stated.

Yanagi and Hawley also confirmed that the game will feature voice chat. They also noted the Switch version will include the same content and seasonal events that other ports do.

To celebrate Overwatch’s launch on Nintendo Switch, Blizzard has a surprise prepared for players on the day it goes live. Fans can look forward to its launch on October 15 and Switch owners can bling out their console with some of the neat accessories that spoiled the game’s reveal.
