Evil Geniuses managed to take the first game of  a series versus Invictus Gaming even after a misclick on the draft screen led to an errant hero selection.

The International 2018 group stage has highlighted much of what makes the world’s best teams so strong, but some mistakes are inevitable. Evil Geniuses amused the TI8 audience when they accidentally switched the roles of Tal “Fly” Aizik and Artour “Arteezy” Babaev.

Captain and support player Fly was forced to play a carry Clinkz while Arteezy performed the role of a hard support on Phoenix.

The casters noticed the bizarre hero picks when Arteezy and Fly remained at their team’s fountain trying to swap their heroes back. Unfortunately they couldn’t, so the team had to go on with the game. This was the first competitive appearance for Fly on Clinkz.

Other members of EG brought their best game to ensure that the mistaken hero picks would not affect the match. Sumail “Sumail” Hassan had his classic Tiny pick, with which he dominated Lin “Xxs” Jing’s Storm Spirit. Andreas “Cr1t” Nielsen’s Spirit Breaker made perfect rotations with Arteezy warding and buying smokes.

The two supports from EG ensured that iG’s core players could not bounce back. The game ended with a perfect Black Hole executed by Gustav “s4” Magnusson on Enigma, with the rest of EG cleaning up the entire squad of iG in the fight.

At the end of the game, Fly totaled a KDA of 6/0/10 while Arteezy scored 4/3/18. The misclick was confirmed by EG’s official twitter.

The entertainment this game brought surely outweighs the lost fantasy points some fans will suffer in their battle passes.
