Cloud9’s head coach Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu has confirmed that the team will be boot camping in Europe.

On Sunday, Cloud9 walked off the stage as the 2019 LCS Summer runner-up, as once again the team failed to snatch the title. The series was close and Cloud9 looked like they had it until the very last game.

The players are not taking the loss to heart. Instead, they’re focusing on the next event, the 2019 World Championship. This year, Cloud9 is avoiding the regional finals and the Play-In stage, and is seeding directly into the Main Event.

Cloud9 prepares for 2019 World Championship

Ahead of the 2019 World Championship, Cloud9 will be bootcamping in Europe, as head coach Reapered has confirmed. In the post-match press conference, Reapered explained that it’s better for them to boot camp in Europe since the event is taking place in that region. Setting camp in Europe would save them some unnecessary travel time later on.

The western teams usually boot camp in Korea. The solo queue in that region is highly competitive and the local teams make for some fierce opponents. Cloud9 is opting to stay in Europe and according to Reapered, other western teams might be choosing the same tactic. Team Liquid has a headquarters in the Netherlands that may be vacant now that The International is over.

Staying in Europe might give the western team an advantage over the Asian teams in attendance. The meta is drastically different from one region to the next. In the LEC, teams are choosing Garen and Yuumi in the bottom lane. The LPL and the LCK are playing more standard compositions.

One factor transcends the regions: It’s all about the mid and jungle duo. Throughout the playoffs, it has become obvious that the synergy between junglers and mid laners is a clear difference between the top teams. Cloud9, Team Liquid, G2 Esports, and SK Telecom T1 are some of the teams that have showcased the best jungle/mid duos.
