Newly crowned Fortnite Solo World Champion Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf has called on Epic Games to remove BRUTE mechs from the game.

The BRUTE is a vehicle that requires two people to pilot and has frustrated players with its ability to kill players absurdly quickly as well as seemingly never running out of protective shields.

The comments came during Bugha’s stream as he was outmatched and outgunned by a BRUTE during a game. Despite his being the reigning world champion, the mismatch was clear as Bugha was killed without any obvious opportunity for counter-play.

“I’m never playing this game again. Epic Games, remove them now,” Bugha said. “I know you guys are watching my stream. Remove them!”

Bugha would go on to play Fortnite again after this match, so it appears his comments about never playing again were said more out of frustration than anything else. His position on the BRUTE mechs was made clear though.

Many others in the Fortnite community have called for the BRUTE to be nerfed if not removed entirely. The general feeling is that they change the game too dramatically. Along with multiple posts on Reddit, other popular streamers such as Turner “Tfue” Tenney and Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff have voiced similar concerns.

In a statement on Reddit, Epic Games admitted that the developer is looking into the issue.

Right now we’re evaluating B.R.U.T.E. gameplay, as well as observing how it performs across all modes and skill levels. We are also working to fix movement-related bugs with the B.R.U.T.E. to address exploits,” Epic said.

With the developer obviously having spent time creating the new vehicle, it may be that Epic Games will not want to remove it from Fortnite quite so quickly. Only time will tell if rounds of nerfs can bring the BRUTE to a place where it feels powerful but not game-breaking.
