Ninja reaches 1 million subscribers, already Mixer's biggest
Tyler "Ninja" Blevins has quickly become Mixer's most popular streamer.
The famous Fortnite streamer hit over 1 million subscribers on his new platform, not even a week since announcing his sudden departure from Twitch.
Three days ago, Ninja had reached over 500,000 subscribers. His first streaming session on Mixer had double the number of average viewers he had been pulling on Twitch. The stream peaked with over 95,000 viewers thanks to an appearance by Fortnite World Cup solo champion Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf.
It's safe to say that Ninja appears to have made the right choice at the moment.
While Ninja has never made it explicitly clear why he switched to Mixer, it's most likely the result of a monetary deal that was too good to pass up. But Ninja has expressed concerns with his Twitch schedule in the past, stating that he felt the community was sometimes too toxic to be around day after day.
That may have been what led Ninja to search for a way to reconnect with his streaming roots, as he stated in a tweet after the Mixer announcement.
Ninja's 1 million subscriber benchmark puts him ahead of the site's former top streamer, David "TheGrefg" Canovas. But it's possible that TheGrefg may eventually earn his title back, since many of Ninja's new subscriptions are a result of Mixer's limited time free subscription deal.
Back over at Twitch, Ninja's channel is being used to direct viewers to other popular Fortnite creators' channels. Thanks to the Fortnite World Cup, Twitch is still experiencing a steady increase in viewership to Fortnite channels without Ninja's presence. Still, the streaming platform couldn't resist removing the "verified" tag from Ninja's account.
