Changes appear at Tilted Towers and Dusty Depot in Fortnite
Fortnite players are beginning to notice new rifts forming over Tilted Towers, as well as a crack on Dusty Depot’s meteor that continues to intensify.
Starting with the rifts, you can head to Neo Tilted right now to see a beacon of light reaching to the stars and forming a still-growing rift. There doesn’t seem to be a way to use said rift, nor can it yet be predicted what it’ll bring at full bloom.
As for Dusty Depot, the meteor that floats above the classic hot drop has always had cracks in it, but its condition is now worsening.
The meteor’s crack takes on an appearance similar to that of a rift’s. It’s possible this means Dusty Depot will see some sort of transformation through disruptions in the space-time continuum. Alternatively, Epic Games could just be reusing old assets for the sake of efficiency.
Longtime Fortnite players know what these strange events typically foreshadow, but for the uninitiated, this is what happens when major map changes are being prepared for the game.
It wasn’t long ago that data miners uncovered evidence of a Tilted Towers makeover, so the rift’s presence in the high-rise district makes sense. What the meteor hanging out above Dusty Depot signals is still anyone’s guess.
That meteor came crashing down in the area in Season 3, effectively toppling the few structures and leveling the surrounding terrain. But time was somehow reversed in that small pocket of Fortnite’s island and Dusty Depot now appears just as it did before impact, with the meteor seemingly frozen in time and space.
Either way, the Fortnite Season X launch trailer revealed what’s actually going on inside those things. Objects that go through the rift seem to hover within a zero-gravity zone. Events like these may force some of these objects in or out, thus ushering in the visual and functional changes Fortnite often receives.
While leaks may have spoiled the Tilted Towers transformation, there’s still a lot of potential for a big surprise at Dusty Depot later this season.
