Dignitas is parting ways with its Apex Legends squad.

On July 31, Dignitas made the announcement through Twitter.

“Effective today, Dignitas has parted ways with our Apex Legends team. We are proud of their efforts over the past few months and wish them the best going forward,” wrote Dignitas.

The team originally consisted of three players: Nhan “Shurimawizard” Le, Jaime “CrozzoveR” Alvarez, and former H1Z1 champion Miguel Angel “Mig_99” Medina. The trio joined the organization at the end of March, almost two months after the release of the game.

Dignitas, like many other esports organizations, jumped into the Apex Legends scene as soon as the game was live and proved dramatically successful at launch. The game was popular among content creators but didn’t have a clear plan for its competitive scene other than minor tournaments to be held along the way.

During their time with the organization, the trio competed at the AOC Apex Legends by PlayGain and the FACEIT Pro Series, where they finished in last place.

Dignitas might return to Apex Legends

“While we continue to be interested in Apex Legends, we’re putting our esports efforts on hold as we assess the competitive landscape of the game going forward,” said Dignitas in the announcement.

Dignitas’ news came just the day after publisher Electronic Arts and developer Respawn Entertainment had announced a preseason invitational with a $500,000 prize pool. 80 teams will be invited to the event that is scheduled from September 13 to September 15 and will take place in Kraków, Poland.

The trio is currently looking for a team to represent in the near future. Although they didn’t share any particular details about the situation, CrozzoveR said on his Twitter that they were “completely blindsided” by the announcement and that he was “still in shock.

According to some tweets from CrozzoveR, Dignitas didn’t give the squad any kind of warning before releasing them. The trio needs to find a new home as soon as possible if they wish to aspire for an invitation to the upcoming event.
