Epic Games rep says BRUTE nerf is coming after fan outrage
Epic Games is listening to fans.
Fortnite players haven’t been happy with the direction Fortnite Season X has taken, with the B.R.U.T.E. in particular receiving a great deal of scorn. Less than a day after its initial rollout, social media blew up criticizing the new vehicle. Now, Epic seems to be looking for a quick fix.
After one Redditor vented his frustration to the publisher, a representative responded by saying that he is far from alone in his complaints and that changes are coming soon. “Rest assured that the developers will nerf B.R.U.T.E.soon due to a lot of players filing a complaint,” the representative said. “It might also be removed from competitive modes.”
A sizable contingent of players believe the mech feels out of place in Fortnite, both from a gameplay and tactical perspective. The mech suit was one of the biggest new additions to the game in Fortnite Season X, standing apart from other vehicles due to its combat versatility and unique piloting system that requires two players to operate.
Yes, the B.R.U.T.E. really is that bad
It’s an interesting concept, but the vehicle has a shotgun and missile launcher that can take down a fully shielded player with one volley. Even legitimate professionals like Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf have struggled to deal with the behemoth.
Its raw power is all the Fornite community has talked about since its release, with the topic dominating all social media chatter about the game. Many have questioned what the thought process was for adding it to the game in the first place. Some have even speculated that the B.R.U.T.E. was deliberately made overpowered in an effort to attract attention to the launch of the new season.
Epic has traditionally been willing to listen to players when it comes to weakening vehicles with the Baller and X-4 Stormwing both receiving multiple nerfs during their life cycles. Only time will tell how long the B.R.U.T.E.’s reign of terror is.
