Misfits Gaming is breaking up with one of its original Fortnite players.

The organization bid farewell to Griffin “Sceptic” Spikoski following the Fortnite World Cup Finals. Sceptic decided to leave in order to explore new opportunities following the completion of his one-year contract. He joined the team in August 2018.

“Sceptic, you’ll always be a part of the Misfits family and we’re incredibly excited to see what the future holds for you,” Misfits said in a statement. We know you’re gonna smash it.”

Sceptic hasn’t announced what options he’s exploring or what his future plans are as of this writing. He acknowledged the news himself on Twitter and thanked Misfits for his time with the team.

After qualifying for the Fortnite World Cup Finals with his duo partner Cody “Clix” Conrod in the second week of the qualifiers, Sceptic and Clix went on to place 35th at Duo Finals. They won $100,000.

However, the duo announced their plans to break up shortly after the event. Although they both stated there is no bad blood between them, their social media posts say differently.

In Sceptic’s tweet announcing the split, he stated that he is “looking for a new duo that believes in teamwork and chemistry.” Clix responded with a tweet of his own saying he’s “super disappointed” with how his now ex-duo partner has been behaving and handling their separation. The post has since been deleted.

Fortnite World Cup followed by shuffles

Clix and Sceptic aren’t the only pairs breaking up. World Cup Duo Finals champions David “Aqua” Wang and Emil “Nyhrox” Berquist Pedersen stunned fans by breaking up almost immediately after the event.

While Sceptic is now a free agent, Clix is planning to remain with Misfits. He played in both the solo and duo finals, placing 18th and earning $112,500. Misfits also retains Endre “Endretta,” who placed 24th in solo competition at the World Cup.

Misfits’ Fortnite active roster now consists of five American players and Endretta as the only player from Europe. With Season 10 just starting, Fortnite fans are likely to see more roster changes, shifts in duo teams, and new players being signed.
