Griffin’s players are taking over Korea’s League of Legends ladder.

Jungler Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong, bottom laner Park “Viper” Do-hyeon, and mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon hold four out of the top five places on the ladder.

Tarzan climbed to the top with his main account and a secondary one. He currently stands in second and third place, with Viper and Chovy in fourth and fifth respectively. Only one player in the server has been able to surpass the Griffin trio, being Kingzone DragonX’s jungler Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan.

The ladder, Griffin’s domain

Before Griffin took the LCK by storm, the challenger team was known for having the number one player of the Korean server, Tarzan. The jungler made a name for himself in solo queue and his popularity grew not only in Korea but around the world.

Tarzan’s teammates are following his footsteps and are climbing in the ladder. This effort is a testament to the player’s commitment and focus.

Griffin, the trendsetters

Perhaps more interesting than their placement is their game history.  In the LCK, Griffin is known for their creative drafts and unexpected compositions. This team was one of the first to play Taliyah and Pantheon in the bottom lane. Tarzan built Redemption, a support item on Olaf, a trend that caught on worldwide.

The players spend a lot of time experimenting with new and interesting combinations that change the meta. Griffin can flex champions in different positions and every single player is capable of carrying the team to victory.

That creativity will likely serve Griffin well at this critical moment in the season.

At the moment, the team is going through a rough patch in the 2019 LCK Summer Split. Griffin dropped one game versus Gen.G Esports and then another versus Afreeca Freecs. The squad is still in a comfortable position for earning a spot in the playoffs but they’ll need to shift into a higher gear in order to make a run for the championship.

The season is not over yet and their run up the leaderboard shows they have no lack in drive.
